CHALLENGE
Create an animated GIF of an assigned word unique to South Africa that visually explains the word as well as contain the word.
SOLUTION
My word was “eish”. I decided to illustrate it in terms of how the current generation would possibly use the word in respect of technology. The idea relates to a person dropping their mobile phone and the adrenalin rush experienced from the anxiety that the phone may be broken or the screen cracked depriving them of their connectivity to the world around them and social media. I used the idea of lino-cut art to create a minimalistic and dramatic design.
Overall I created a modern way of understanding how the word “eish” can be used through the aid of lino-cut art and the impact that black and white when combined can create.
